HIFU stands for (high intensity focused ultrasound) and is also more commonly known as the non surgical facelift procedure. HIFU treatment has many different capabilities that include, face and brow lifting, tightening of the connective tissue and even cellulite treatments.
The HIFU treatment involves highly concentrated ultrasound waves that penetrate deep into the skin and stimulate collagen and elastin production. It uses a high intense focused ultrasound energy to target the layers of skin just below the surface. This ultrasound energy causes the tissue to heat up rapidly and experience cellular damage in order to stimulate the production of collagen which leads to tightening of the skin and lifting of the treated area.
High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a great treatment for skin tightening that is a non-invasive, non-surgical and painless replacement for face lifts and body tightening. The HIFU treatment is one of the best non-invasive treatments that uses uses energy to encourage the production of collagen, which results in firmer, tighter skin.
The first reported HIFU treatment for aesthetic use was in 2008. HIFU therapy was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2009 for brow lifts. The device was also cleared by the FDA in 2014 to improve lines and wrinkles of the upper chest and neckline (décolletage). HIFU neck and face lift treatment has shown to be both popular and effective treatment across the UK with many celebrities trying the treatment for themselves.
Several clinical trials have found HIFU treatment to be safe and effective for facial lifting and refining wrinkles. Patients who had this treatment done were able to see results right away and continued to see results months after treatment, without the risks associated with surgery.
This new innovation for lifting and tightening skin is now being used on the neck, around the eyebrow, under the chin and around the body including abdomen, thighs, back, arms, hips, waist line (love handles), buttocks and more...
During your consultation, we will discuss your goals and tailor a treatment plan that aligns with your needs. Once we have completed your consultation, you will be asked to relax on a comfortable bed while the technician places an ultrasound gel on the treatment area. During treatment, an HIFU device is used to deliver ultrasound energy into different layers of the skin. The thermal energy is delivered at safe temperatures between 65°C and 70°C. As the ultrasound waves penetrate the skin’s surface, they rapidly heat the dermal and subdermal tissue, causing microdamage to the tissue.
During the healing process, the tissue stimulates the production of collagen which leads to the tightening and lifting of the skin in the treated area. 20% of the result can be seen immediately after the treatment, however the full result of the treatment is shown 6 to 8 months later.
HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) applies focused Ultrasound energy to a depth of 0.8 to 13 mm locally targeting deeper tissues in the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS), dermis and Subcutaneous tissue layers reinforcing tissues to renewal through thermal tissue ablation. The new tissues synthesis may occur within a few months, to strengthening the skin’s elasticity and structure naturally from within.
This is a non-invasive, non surgical treatment that uses Focused Ultrasound Technology to create a micro-injury in the deep dermal and Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS) layer. HIFU helps stimulates the cells, encouraging tissue rejuvenation in the SMAS layer and collagen production – resulting in lifting and tightening of skin naturally.
HIFU works by creating thermal clotting within targeted layers of the skin which, in turn, helps the body's natural new collagen production, providing long term and ongoing skin tightening to contribute to wrinkle reduction and combat the ageing process.
HIFU has many aesthetic benefits, including:
